We acknowledge that there is a lot of sensitivity with regards to the appropriate terms that are used to identify the first inhabitants of Southern Africa. We hope not to offend anyone by terms used in this project, our goal is to get many volunteers involved in preserving these rare languages (|xam and !kun), and helping making them more accessible online.
This study aims at using a Crowdsourcing solution to Transcribe the Digital Bleek and Llyod Collection. This will aid the preservation of rare cultural heritage collections. This collection contains rock art painting, drawings and notebooks that were digitized. The project uses the Bossa framework developed as a platform for crowdsoucring projects. This project is being run in collaboration with the Citizen CyberScience Centre, that promotes the establishment of Citizen Science projects world wide.
